Former England spinner Grame Swann backed Alastair Cook when critics blasted the national captain following the dismal Ashes 2013-14 series in Australia. Swann supported the England captain and said that people had forgotten his victory in India and a triumph in the Ashes 2013 series at home.

Swann added that Cook was an excellent captain who has achieved unbelievable results and that if he scored runs then everyone will quickly forget about his failures.

According to Mirror, Swann, who retired during the Ashes 2013-14 series in Australia with a swipe at some of his teammates, reckons Cook will silence doubters when the Tests against Sri Lanka and India start.

The 35-year-old cricketer further attributed that England’s inability to win at the Ashes series was because of Australian paceman Mitchell Johnson‘s ‘skewed’ perspectives but with the entry of a new coach the English team’s techniques could be fixed.
