The fate of the suspended IPL 2025 remains unclear as the BCCI continues to discuss plans with stakeholders and awaits approval from the government. Various news reports suggest that the BCCI wants to complete the 18th edition of IPL 2025 as per the original schedule, as many foreign players won’t be available later.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans have taken the initiative by resuming training for the remainder of the season on Sunday. According to reports as per Cricbuzz, Shubman Gill-led GT lead started their net session at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The practice session went for three hours from 5:30 pm and 9 pm, confiremed by the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA).
Foreign stars like Kagiso Rabada and Sherfane Rutherford where also part of the training session along with Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj.
“They were to disperse today but with the announcement of ceasefire and talk of an early resumption happening, they decided to stay on in Ahmedabad,” GCA and GT members told Cricbuzz.
Gujarat Titans, the 2022 IPL champions are currently the table topper with 16 points in 11 games in IPL 2025. GT is only one win away from playoff qualification.
The reports also added that most of the foreign players left India after the esclating tensions between India-Pakistan ancd the domestic players returned home. However, the Ricky Ponting and PBKS support staff decided to stay in the country as the BCCI arranged a special train for them to return from Dharamshala last Saturday.
