Gurunath Meiyappan sent to police custody till May 29

Gurunath Meiyappan has been sent into police custody till May 29. The son-in-law of BCCI President N Srinivasan was arrested on Friday for his alleged role in the betting racket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013.

Meiyappan was brought in court in Mumbai on Saturday. The former Chennai Super Kings principal is reported to have been in contact with actor Vindoo Dara Singh.

Vindoo was arrested on May 21 and the Mumbai court granted police to keep him in custody till May 28.

Police says they have call details of four phones of Meiyappan. According to police reports, Meiyappan used to place bets with the help of bookies Jupiter and Vindoo.

Police will check if any fake documents were used during the betting. Police also to tell court that Meiyappan discussed team strategies with the bookies.
