Born September 21, 1979, Chris Henry Gayle can easily be called as arguably the most entertaining cricketer of all-time. Gayle is also one of the most loved cricketer all over the world for his free-spirited approach on and off the field. Gayle made his debut for West Indies on September 11, 1999 against India at Toronto. The 37-year-old has the most number of runs in T20s, he has scored 9,668 runs so far with the help of 18 centuries which is also a record. He has 60 half-centuries to his name in T20s. He has played for franchisees all around the world. Although, Gayle’s contribution in longer version of the game is no less either. Gayle has 7,214 runs in 103 Tests scoring at an average of 42.18 with 15 centuries and 37 half-centuries.

Gayle’s perspective towards life took a drastic turn after he had to undergo heart surgery in 2005 during the series against Australia. Gayle himself revealed that, ‘Back then I realised the importance of life. It was a life-changing moment for me. Thereafter, I decided to enjoy my life to the fullest and I am still doing so.” Gayle’s ‘Gangnam style’ dance and this year’s ‘Champion’ were one of the highlights of the tournament. This year, Gayle’s side won the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 and then Jamaica Tallawahs won the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016. He also featured in the runner-up side of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 and his wicket was the turning point of the finale.

Gayle’s spat with West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has cost him his berth in the side. He has not featured in a single Test since September 2015 and in ODIs since ICC World Cup 2015 quarter-final against New Zealand in which he scored a quickfire 61. His social media posts are fun to watch and clearly shows that Gayle has a mantra to enjoy life to the fullest.
