Happy birthday, George Bailey: Australian batsman turns 34

Born on September 7, 1982 the middle order batsman, George Bailey made his debut for Australia in 2012 at an age of 31 against India in T20I. It was quite a surprising sight for fans around the world to see Bailey making international debut as a captain straightaway. Bailey has a good record in First-Class matches with over 7,532 runs under his belt. The Tasmanian player has played 5 Tests, 81 ODIs and 29 T20Is. He is one of the best batsman in Australian side, especially in ODIs averaging at 42.5. Bailey aka Hector made a name for himself in Indian Premier League (IPL) as well, he made his IPL debut for Chennai Superkings (CSK) but did not get much chance to bat. He was then picked up in Kings XI Punjab side in 2014 auction, he also captained the side as they reached the final of IPL 2014. He played for MS Dhoni led Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) in IPL 2016. Bailey has 663 runs from 40 IPL matches playing for different franchisees. He has scored 2 half-centuries so far at an average of 24.55 and a strike rate of 121.87.

Bailey has equalled West Indies former captain Brian Lara’s record in Tests by scoring 28 runs in a single over. He reached this unique record hitting James Anderson all around the park in 2013-14 Ashes. He is a great-great grandson of George Herbert Bailey, who was played in the historic 1878 tour to England.
