Martin Guptill emerged as the highest run-getter of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 with 547 runs.

Born on September 30, 1986, Martin James Guptill, popularly known as Martin Guptill turns 30. Guptill has been New Zealand‘s option for the opening slot for a long time now and is one of the most experienced cricketers in the side currently. Born in Auckland, Guptill caught the eyes of cricket enthusiasts as he represented his country in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2006. There was no stopping the player since then as he became one of the biggest power-hitters of the current generation, being a big name in the limited-overs format. Guptill made his international debut in 2009 and represented his side in 45 Tests, 129 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 61 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) till date.
Guptill made his international debut special as he scored a brilliant century playing at Eden Park, Auckland against West Indies. He has scored 4844 runs including 10 centuries and 30 half-centuries. In Tests, the player has 2448 runs, three centuries and 16 half-centuries while in T20Is, he has 1806 runs, including a century and 10 half-centuries. He is the first New Zealand cricketer and fifth in world to score an ODI double century. He has the record of highest individual score in a World Cup match with his unbeaten 237 against West Indies in the quarter-final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. It is also the second highest individual score in any ODIs. Guptill was among the key players for New Zealand who took them to the final of the 2015 edition of World Cup. He emerged as the highest run-getter of the tournament with 547 runs.

Guptill suffered an accident caused by a lawnmower which took away three of his toes. The cricketer earned a nickname — two-toes — from his Kiwi teammates. He married Laura McGoldrick, a reporter.
