Opener Aiden Blizzard, who scored a half-century for Mumbai Indians in the crucial semi-final, praised captain Harbhajan Singh after their Champions League T20 win on Sunday.
Â
“He’s been a champion for us as captain and an amazing character. You can see the way he’s held all the boys together. He wears his heart on his sleeve and it shows in his captaincy. He’s very aggressive. He’s believed in us the whole way. We’ve had some very tough matches which we took down to the wire and won. We had a lot of belief in him as our leader.”
Â
Mumbai Indians batsman struggled once again in the tournament to post a modest 139, but Blizzard said the team was confident of winning the title.
Â
“We knew the wicket would turn and if we stuck to our guns, we’d come out on top. We thought if we got Chris Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan out early, we had an absolute chance and it was a bonus to get Virat Kolhi as well. Full credit to the spinners – Yuzvendra Chahal and Harbhajan Singh – for the way they got us back into the game,” Blizzard said.
Â
The Australian rated the CLT20 win amongst one of his best wins and said the team showed lot of character in tough times.
Â
“It’s got to be up there. I can’t compare one tournament with another but it’s been a great journey being a part of the Mumbai Indians family and now we’ve just created history for the team. So, it’s going to be a hard one to get over. I’ll be flying high for a couple of weeks.
Â
“Today’s match really showed our team spirit. The score was a par one and we did really well to restrict them. The bowlers have done fantastically well to win us the tournament.”
