Hashim Amla has become the eighth South African to get to the 5000-run landmark in ODIs and did so in emphatic fashion, scoring a run-a-ball 66. He averages 53.31 in the format — the second highest among all batsmen with more than 5000 runs in the 50-over format. Only Michael Bevan with an average of 53.58 is above him in that regard.

The table displays the eight South African batsmen who have scored more than 5000 runs. Among the currently active players AB de Villiers is the only other batsman who features in the list.
