Hashim Amla becomes the fourth batsman to complete 1,000 T20I runs. He achieved this record during South Africa vs Sri Lanka T20 World Cup 2016 Match. He made sure with his sensible knock of 56 of 51 deliveries that South Africa emerge as winners in their last outing of the T20 World Cup at Delhi without any hassle. He took 37 innings to reach the milestone scoring 5 half centuries with a strike rate of 130 and average of 30. His high score in T20Is is 97 unbeaten. It took him a while to get a permanent place in South Africa’s T20 team as he was considered more of a 50 over and test batsman. He shared partnerships with Quinton De Kock, Faf Du Plessis and AB De Villiers to get South Africa comfortably to the target.

South Africa won the game with ease against Defending Champions Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka had a healthy start which all of a sudden started imploding. Aaron Phangiso drew first blood hitting the stumps through Dinesh Chandimal after which Sri Lanka didn’t looked strong in the game at all. They managed to post a modest total of 120 bowled out inside 20 overs. After that, the Proteas seemed to approach the game with ease, until a misunderstanding and a spectacular throw from Tillakratne Dilshan. He then played sensibly alongside skipper Faf Du Plessis cruising towards the target. They shared a partnership of 60 due to a wrong decision from Umpire ending up with Du Plessis walking off the ground.

The chants of ABD started as AB DE Villiers came to the crease. They knocked the ball around for few more years and then started to shift gears and finish the match early. A trade mark ABD shot ended the game giving them a consolation prize going out of the World Cup. Aaron Phangiso was adjudged Player of the match for his tight spell picking up 2 wickets.
