Himachal eye Innings win against Tripura

Host Tripura were today forced to follow on against Himachal Pradesh on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Plate division group A match at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Stadium here today.

 

At stumps, Tripura, trailing by 227 runs in the first innings, were scored 31 for one with Rajib Saha (24) and Rajesh Banik (1) at the crease.

 

Gurvinder Singh took the lone wicket for Himachal.

 

Himachal now has a chance to score an innings victory as Tripura still trail by 196 runs with nine wickets in hand.

 

Earlier, resuming at the overnight score of 91 for one, Tripura batted patiently from the first ball of the day.

 

Opener Subhrajit Roy and middle-order bastman Vinayak Samant added valuable 105 runs for the fifth wicket to help Tripura make 304 runs in their first innings.

 

Shubhrajit scored a handsome 75 runs which was studded with 14 boundaries, while and Vinayak contributed 67 with the help of 11 fours. (PTI)

 

Apart from duo, Gopesh Bhowmik scored 27 while Udit Patel made 22 for the home team.

 

For Himachal Pradesh, Rishi Dhawan and Mahinder Sharma bagged four wickets apiece, giving away 94 and 47 runs respectively.
