It’s time to rejoice for Hong Kong, as their most exciting moment of cricket has come. After four years of inactivity, Hong Kong once again braces itself to host the annual Hong Kong World Sixes 2017 at the at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Jordan on Saturday and Sunday. South Africa would be the defending champions, who won the title during the last edition in 2012. However, either of Pakistan and England too would be looking for a win here as they are the joint most successful teams of the tournament, having won five titles each. What’s in store for 2017? Points System

14. AWin

14.1 The side having the highest score at the completion of the game shall win.

14.2 To constitute a game, a minimum of two overs must be bowled in the second innings. If this is not possible, ‘No Result’ shall be declared and each team will receive 1point.

14.3 If a game cannot be completed after two overs have been bowled in the second innings due to adverse ground,weather or light conditions,the results hall be calculated by runrate as per Rule 17.

15. Points

15.1 2 points shall be awarded to the winning side and any team losing a tied game under Rule 16 shall earn 1 point. The losing team receives 0 points.

16. TiedGames

16.1 In the event of tied scores, the side losing fewest wickets shall be thewinner.

16.2. In the event of both teams still being equal, the side that conceded least extras shall win and, if still equal, the team hitting the most sixes shallwin.

16.3 In the event of a tie not resolved by Rules 16.1 or 16.2, the fielders of each team shall bowl one ball each at a set of stumps alternately. The side hitting the wickets the most times out of 5 shall be declared the winner. If each team hits the wickets the same number of times, the process shall continue,bowling alternately,in the same order as before and the winner shall be declared as soon as one bowler succeeds whilst his opposite number fails to hit the wickets. No balls and wides will count as a delivery but no extra ball will beallowed.

17. RunRate

17.1 Should teams have equal points at the end of a round robin stage, the superior position will be judged according to the following criteria:

17.2 The teams will be ranked according to total runs scored including extras, divided by number of legitimate ballsreceived.

17.3 In the event that a side is all out before completion of their allotted overs, the total runs scored will be divided by30.

17.4 A legitimate ball is a fair delivery, which is not called either Wide or No ball. Run rates will carry forward from round to round. If still equal, the team that won the most recent match in the tournament between the two sides shall prevail.

18. Groups

18.1 The Tournament shall consist of 8 teams divided into two groups. Both Groups will play a round robin stage in Round One. The top two teams from each Group will automatically qualify for the Cup Division which will play around robin in Round Two. The 3rd and 4th teams in each Group will enter the Plate Semi Finals with the 3rd placed team playing against the 4th placed team from each Group for a place in the Plate Final. The top two teams in the Cup Division after Round Two will play in the Cup Final.

18.2 The final placings for teams finishing 7th and 8th will be decided on their respective overall net rate as defined in Rule17.

19. HublotTargets

19.1 Two targets will be placed on the perimeter fencing at the Austin Road end of the ground. Anyball, hit by the striker, that hits one of these targets on the full shall score a bonus 6 runs in addition to the boundary allowance, i.e. 12 runsscored.
