‘I am pretty happy and excited to be back’: Virat Kohli opines as he joins RCB training camp ahead of IPL 2024 

It was Virat Kohli’s first time playing competitive cricket since January of this year when he took the field at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday. After a long break, Kohli returned to the game on Friday as the Royal Challengers Bangalore took on the Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium in the opening game of the 2024 IPL season. Kohli trained with the rest of the team at their home ground.

“It’s really good to be back, firstly playing cricket and just starting off the IPL,” Kohli said in the video.

Fans have shared videos on social media of the former captain playing football and participating in catching drills. He was also frequently observed chatting with Du Plessis.

“It’s always exciting to come back to Bangalore for the start of the IPL season. So, similar emotions, similar feelings and I haven’t been off the media radar. I have been into the normalcy, you can say, for two months. So, yeah, I am pretty happy and excited to be back and I hope all the fans are excited and happy as well,” said Kohli.

On Monday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Kohli participated in a training session alongside the rest of the RCB team. The former captain was joking around with his colleagues and participating in fielding drills with complete diligence, it was like he never went on a break from the game. It was shortly after RCB women’s skipper Smriti Mandhana’s side defeated Delhi Capitals in the 2024 WPL final on Sunday, Kohli was spotted conversing with her over a video chat. Additionally, he will be present at RCB Unbox, the franchise’s IPL campaign kickoff ceremony where they will also honour Mandhana and her WPL championship team.
