England batsman Ian Bell has fractured his left big toe, and is at risk to be out of the remainder of the series against India, pending further assessment. According to a tweet by the ECB, the Warwickshire batsman’s fitness will be assessed ahead of the fifth One-Day International (ODI) at Leeds.

Bell — who is England’s second-highest run-scorer in ODIs — was replaced by Gary Ballance in the XI for the fourth ODI at Edgbaston. He will be keen to get back to full fitness in time for the triangular series also featuring India to be held in Australia in December.
