Ian Bell hopes for England Berth for India, Bangladesh tours

Ian Bell admits that he wants to be on the team touring Bangladesh and India. With James Vince, Gary Ballance and Nick Compton not able to deliver in the home series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Despite winning both the Test series at home they have concerns in middle order. England coach Trevor Bayliss might have to resort to experienced Warwickshire batsman to tour subcontinent. With Alex Hales and Eoin Morgan withdrawing from the tournament, he might get a chance to return in the side after a forgettable tour of UAE against Pakistan in 2015. However, his form in First-Class games while playing for Warwickshire has not been impressive, he has scored 165 runs in 9 innings recently at an average of 20.625. Bell told SkySports “I think it’s a really exciting winter for English cricket. The subcontinent is a tough place to go, and to win out there particularly in India is tough. The cricket will be hard as Bangladesh are improving all the time as we’ve seen. England want to improve their skills and win some cricket on the subcontinent, so it’s going to be an exciting winter and hopefully I’m part of that, but if I’m watching it then I hope the guys go well.”

Bell also talked about his short-term goal despite hopefulness to get selected in England side, he said, “I know what it’s like to play for England. I know how tough it is and your job in the top order is to score runs but I’m just concentrating on what we’re doing at Warwickshire. That’s where I’m at at the minute, concentrating on what I’ve got to do and Warwickshire have got to do right now.”

Bell had something to say about Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales withdrawing from Bangladesh tour too, he said, “I don’t think that will be from the players. I think the players will be very united. They will back Morgy and he’s been a fantastic captain for England so I don’t think that will be any pressure from inside but I’m sure lots of people will talk and lots of people will have their opinions.”
