Joel Wilson can now umpire One-day Internationals around the world after the International Cricket Council approved his appointment to its international panel.
Â
The 44-year-old from Trinidad & Tobago joins compatriot Peter Nero on the panel, which is one rung below the Elite Panel of Test umpires.
Â
“I feel happy to be appointed on the ICC International Panel in the on-field position and I understand that with it comes great responsibility to continue to represent the umpiring fraternity in the West Indies with distinction,” said Wilson.
Â
He said that his love for the game and the hard work he put in over the 16 years of being an umpire helped him to get elevated.
Â
With Wilson joining, the West Indies now have three umpires on the ICC panel of umpires. Dominican Billy Doctrove is the only Caribbean official on the Elite Panel.
