ICC Champions Trophy 2017 finally goes underway after the IPL hullabaloo. Eight teams are divided into two groups: A and B. Where Australia, England, New Zealand and Bangladesh are placed in Group A, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa are under Group B. The live telecast of the match will be available on Channel 9 and Fox Sports for Australia while SLRC channel will show the telecast on Sri Lanka. The lives streaming will be shown over Foxtel. Only India matches will be shown in India for the warm-ups. All the teams will play warm-up matches prior to the main event that begins on May 26.

Australia and Sri Lanka will play the first match. Sri Lanka last played an ODI series against Bangladesh that ended in draw. They also had a poor start in England ending the two practice matches against Scotland in draw. Australia, on the other hand, lost the three-match ODI series against New Zealand at their den. This will be an opportunity for both teams to revive their fortunes and come good ahead of the big event. Most of the players are coming with IPL experience. They would want to shrug them off and start their 50-over format journey on fresh note.

Sri Lanka had a not so pleasing Champions Trophy journey as they have entered the final just once in 2002 and were adjudged co-champions along with India. Meanwhile, Australia have won the glory twice but never in England.

The mega event begins on June 1, ending on June 18. All the teams will play 2 games each against each other within the group. India will be entering the tournament as defending champions.
