Chameera to replace Dhammika Prasad in SL squad

The International Cricket Council (ICC) approved Dushmantha Chameera as the replacement player for the injured Sri Lankan pacer Dhammika Prasad early on Tuesday. Chameera’s only One-Day International (ODI) appearance till date was in the final game of the seven-match series against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on January 29. The 23-year-old medium pacer was expensive on debut, conceding 60 runs from the eight overs that he bowled. Prasad’s exit from the World Cup comes as a big blow for the Sri Lankan squad, which finds itself facing a shortage of quality fast-bowlers barring Lasith Malinga. Prasad, who is known for being consistent with his line and length, as well as for his ability to generate good bounce in his delivery, was the leading wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in the series against New Zealand.
