The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, which is being co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, will see a total of 14 teams battle over six weeks in about 49 matches. Many runs will be scored, with many players achieving their career best One-Day International (ODI) scores too. On Sunday, Shikhar Dhawan registered his career best ODI score of 137 against South Africa, which is also the highest individual score against the Proteas in World Cup history. Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has scored the most runs in World Cup history. Tendulkar has featured in a total of six World Cup tournaments. Javed Miandad of Pakistan has also featured in six World Cup tournaments. Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting, who has guided his team to two-World Cup wins, is the second best in the list of players with most runs in World Cup history.
In ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan scored the most runs in the tournament. He played nine matches and scored exactly 500 runs. He had an average of 62.50.
