Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday admitted a petition against the poor performance of the Pakistani team during the ongoing cricket World Cup. The team has lost both its matches so far, the first was to India and the second to the West Indies. The petitioner has named Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Ahmed Khan and PCB board member Najam Sethi as respondents in the case, Dawn online reported. Najam Sethi, PCB Chairman Executive Committee had acknowledged Pakistan’s humiliating losses at the hands arch-rivals India and West Indies and had told not to have high expectations from the  “I can understand the fans’ disappointment at the team’s performance in the World Cup matches but at same time it does not justify the sort of criticism against the players,” said Sethi. Pakistan made a bad start to the tournament after losing to India by 76 runs and followed it up with a 150-run loss to West Indies in the very next game. Sethi went on to suggest that Pakistan had played very less games compared to other teams in the tournament. “This is only the second match that Pakistan has lost and in these circumstances, team needs support and not criticism,”  he said. None of the top PCB officials were available for a comment after India’s loss to Pakistan in their headquarters as well.
