To the delight of school children and cricket fans,  ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy was displayed in Shikhar Dhawan‘s alma mater, St. Marks Senior Secondary Public. Having displayed the trophy at the school today, Star Sports, the official broadcaster for the upcoming quadrennial extravaganza, reinforced its commitment of bringing fans closer to the sport and its heroes, through a tour of the World Cup trophy in India.

Dhawan is currently playing a tri-series in Australia, which also features England. He has mot had a good series so far and has gotten himself out in the very first over of both the matches. India will have to win both of their remaining matches to have any chance of playing in the finals at Perth on February 1. Whether Dhawan can retain his place in those matches is a big question.

Star Group had bagged the global cricket broadcast contract from International Cricket Council (ICC) last year. World Cup 2015 is the first major ICC event to be telecast by STAR after signing the contract that includes rights to broadcast 18 other ICC tournaments, including World Cups in 2019 and 2023, two Champions Trophy tournaments (2017 and 2021) and two World Twenty20 tournaments (2016 and 2020).
