Rohit Sharma at No.1 and Virat Kohli at No.2 in ICC ODI Rankings 2025
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its latest ODI rankings. In the rankings announced on Wednesday, Rohit Sharma remains at number one, while Virat Kohli has moved up to second place after a remarkable ODI series.
Rohit Sharma had secured the No.1 ranking during the ODI series against Australia. His consistent batting performances of 57, 14, and 75 in the three-match ODI series against South Africa helped him firmly retain his top spot.
Virat Kohli has also shown exceptional form. He moved up two places to reach No.2 in the latest rankings ICC ODI rankings. Virat scored 135, 102, and 65 runs in the ODI series against South Africa. These three outstanding innings not only earned him the Player of the Series award, but also helped him reeturn to the No.2 position after a long gap.
It is worth noting that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are currently playing only the ODI format, focusing fully on the 50-over game.
In the latest ICC rankings, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran have slipped one position each. They now stand at third and fourth place respectively.
Indian ODI captain Shubman Gill is ranked fifth. Pakistan’s Babar Azam holds the sixth spot, followed by Ireland’s Harry Tector in seventh, West Indies’ Shai Hope in eighth, Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka in ninth, and India’s Shreyas Iyer is tenth. Shreyas has dropped one place. Both Shreyas and Gill missed the South Africa ODI series due to injury,.
