The ICC World T20 2012 entered the Super Eight stage with eight teams from the 14 qualifying for the next round.

The ICC World T20 2012 entered the Super Eight stage with eight teams from the 14 qualifying for the next round.

 

The teams are slotted in two groups with West Indies, England, Sri Lanka and New Zealand comprising of Group 1, while India, Pakistan, Australia and South Africa making the Group 2. The Group 2 has been termed as ‘Group of Death’.

 

India toped their group with win over Afghanistan and England. The MS Dhoni-led team play their first match against Australia on September 28.

 

Every team will be provided with 2 points for their win during the Super Eights.

 

If by any chance teams finish on equal points at the end of the Super Eight, the team for the final will be decide by the following:

 

The team that registers most wins.

 

If teams are tied on equal wins then the team with the higher net run rate will be placed in the higher position.

 

If there is still a tie between teams, the winner of the head to head match will be placed in the higher position.

 

The selection of the teams will decided by drawing lots if the tie still persists.

 

If all the matches fail to yield result, the semi-finalists will be determined by order of their performances in the Group stages as follows: most points, most wins, net run rate.

 

Any teams that cannot be separated in this way shall then be ordered by their original seedings for the tournament.
