As India are playing England in the final of ICC Women’s World Cup, wishes poured in from the entire cricket fraternity. But India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the women in a different way with one-line descriptions for each player per tweet. Modi explained the role and importance of every player in the side through a series of tweets. While he praised Mithali Raj’s leadership qualities, he hailed Jhulan Goswami as India’s pride. Modi also mentioned Harmanpreet’s knock as one of the memorable innings in women’s cricket history. He advised Smriti Mandhana to play her natural game. A similar exercise had been followed by Sachin Tendulkar during the entire tournament through his Instagram account.

Tendulkar had mentioned about Mithali’s sacrifices through a lengthy message. He had thrown light on Deepti Sharma’s struggling career where her brother Sumit had quit his job to pursue her sister’s dreams. Ahead of the final, the men’s team also sent wishes all the way from Sri Lanka.

Ravi Shastri wished, “Go for it ladies, give it to the Poms.” Virat Kohli not only tweeted personally but also wished on behalf of the team and support staff through the BCCI video. India have entered the final of the World Cup for the second time and can possibly join the list of champions after England, New Zealand and Australia.
