English Women batters in the from of Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor put up a glamorous display with the bat, as both these women played twin blistering knocks to ensure England’s impressive 68-run win over South Africa, in match 13 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 at the County Ground in Bristol on Wednesday. The two women also put up a massive 275-run stand for the second wicket, which was eventually the second highest stand in Women’s ODIs by women for any wicket. Earlier, England skipper Heather Knight won the toss and elected to bat first. They were off to a steady start despite losing of Lauren Winfield for 24 in the 12th over. Nevertheless, it was then the pair of Beaumont and Taylor that absolutely sapped all aggression out of the South African bowlers, showing no remorse, as they put up the massive record-breaking stand. England managed to lose half their team in the end overs but eventually posted a massive 373. For South Africa, Marizanne Kapp claimed 3 for 77.

The South Africans started the chase on an impressive note, with openers Laura Wolvaardt and Lizelle Lee putting up 128 before Lee fell for 72. Just 14 runs later, it was Wolvaardt’s turn to depart for 67. Mignon du Preez provided a fightback, scoring 43 in the process, while Chloe Tryon played a stellar knock of 54. Between them they made sure South Africa provided a tough fightback and managed to go past the 300-run mark. However, the pressure of the monstrous target, along with the psychological pressure got the better of the South Africans, as they succumbed to a 68-run defeat. With this win, England registered their third win of the tournament from 4 games. They sit in the third spot of the table with 6 points. South Africa go down to the just a place below England in the fourth spot with 5 points: this was their first defeat of the tournament. Meanwhile, Taylor was adjudged Player of the Match for her outstanding innings of 147.
