The ICC 2015 World Cup boss John Harnden has said that the revival in passion for cricket this Ashes summer would help make up for a successful World Cup next year, as well as for the future of one-day cricket.

He said that he believes next year’s tournament in Australia and New Zealand will shore up the future of One-day International (ODI) cricket and every nation, including India, has an interest in making it a success, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Harnden said that it will be a challenge to set the World Cup games apart from the full calendar of matches that precedes the tournament.

Australia is scheduled to host South Africa for one-day series early in the season, before playing four Tests against India and a triangular one-day series involving India and England leading into the World Cup, the report added.
