Shane Watson and David Warner led Australia’s strong reply, as they reached 38 runs for no loss in five overs, chasing 141 against India in the Super Eights Group 2 clash at Colombo.

Warner hit two boundaries in the first over off Ravichandran Ashwin to set the tone. On the other end, Watson remained unbeaten on 19 off 16 balls, to provide Australia a steady start in their modest chase.

Earlier, Australian pace attack led by Shane Watson and Pat Cummins restricted India to a modest total of 140 runs in their Super Eights clash of World T20 at R Premadasa Stadium at Colombo on Friday.

Opting to bat first, India lost opener Gautam Gambhir early for 17 runs as the opener was run out in the third over. India lost Virat Kohli – its second wicket – in the eighth over against Australia in the Super Eights clash at Colombo on Friday.

Kohli was dismissed by pacer Pat Cummins as he attempted a pull stroke, conceding a catch to Daniel Christian. He scored 15 runs.

Watson dealt two crucial blows for India in 11th over removing Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan.

Rohit Sharma too was dismissed cheaply by Mitchell Starc for one run.

Watson was the pick of the Australian bowlers, pickin three wickets conceding 34 runs.
