Australia’s middle-order batsman George Bailey is expecting to be picked in the team’s squad for ICC World T20 2016. Bailey is banking on his experience and good performance in BBL 2015-16. In a conversation with Cricket Australia’s official website he said, “There’s a World Cup looming around the corner, and I’d love to be a part of it. I’ll try to drop as many subtle hints as I can in front of Finchy [skipper Aaron Finch]. And I’m pretty sure the selectors know I’m not retired now, so that’s a step in the right direction. But runs are always the best currency. I played a lot of T20 cricket in the subcontinent, and had some experience in World Cups. So hopefully that holds me in good stead.” George Bailey: India beating Australia Down Under will be big deal

In India vs Australia 2015-16 ODI series starting Tuesday, every member of Australian team will wear the name of a person who has motivated others out of their drudgery on his jersey. Bailey will wear the name of his father, “Growing up on a farm, we’re a long way from other people, so dad built a custom-built cricket pitch with a big wall so I could bang balls until my heart’s content. It saved me doing it against the weather-board house, which was probably driving mum insane.” Bailey has not been in good form in ODI cricket although he did score a couple of fifties in his last few matches. But is is way below his standards. However, the 33-year-old has impressed in BBL 2015-16. READ: Michael Hussey, Sridharan Sriram to mentor Australia in ICC World T20 2016
