Pakistan will square off with Sri Lanka in a warm-up match of ICC World T20 2016 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Sri Lanka lost their first warm-up contest against New Zealand by 74 runs, thanks to Colin Munro’s 21-ball fifty. Pakistan’s first warm-up match with Bengal XI was called off, as Pakistan’s final call to arrive India was taken a day before the match day. Pakistan, placed in group B, and Sri Lanka, placed in group A, will try to get the most out of the warm-up match and get their players acclimatised with the conditions. Sri Lanka did not seem ready at all in their first contest with the Blackcaps at Wankhede, Mumbai. They were outplayed in all the departments of the game. Sri Lanka lost both their openers, Tilakaratne Dilshan and Dinesh Chandimal, in the batting Powerplay. The onus was on the middle-order batsmen to scale up the run-rate. Lahiru Thirimanne and Chamara Kapugedera stitched a 66-run partnership for the 3rd wicket, but it was not enough to chase down a mammoth 227-run target. Like their batting, their bowlers were ordinary as well. Not only they could not take wickets but also could not contain runs throughout the innings. On the other hand, Pakistan are coming into this tournament on the back of a horrid performance in the Asia cup. Pakistan will try to get some match practice and get their batting combination right. Both teams will take this game seriously and get a win under their belt before the Super 10s get under way.
