As many as six teams have qualified for the the qualifiers of the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers 2015 hosted by Ireland and Scotland, with the knockouts due to commence on Tuesday. Namibia and Papua New Guinea from Group A, as well as Scotland, Netherlands, Afghanistan and Oman from Group B have qualified for the knockout stages. As many as six matches took place on Saturday. The Afghanistan-Canada match was washed out without a ball being bowled, making it the only match of the day to not achieve a result. Namibia and Scotland are the toppers of Group A and B respectively, both teams winning by comfortable margins against Papua New Guinea and Oman respectively. Nepal were eliminated from the ICC World T20 Qualifiers after a seven-wicket defeat to Jersey at Dublin. Among the other one-sided matches USA’s victory over Hong Kong by a similar margin and Namibia’s 49-run thrashing of Papua New Guinea. Co-hosts Scotland rode on Kyle Coetzer’s 63 to finish on 173 for 5 against Oman, winning by 23 runs. The most exciting match of the day by far was between Kenya and Netherlands, with the former getting bowled out for 97 after being put to bat. Netherlands were cruising at 73 for one in the seventh over, before a flurry of wickets saw them settle for a four-wicket win. The ICC World T20 2016 will be held in India.
