Imran Tahir, who is a Pakistani born South African cricketer has been signed up for the next season by Nottinghamshire. He replaces Ben Hilfenhaus as their overseas player. Regarded as a good leg-spinner among the cricketing fraternity this sportsman has played 16 test, 41 one day internationals and 16 T20 games.  Notts, till now are fifth in the County Championship with five games remaining and are second in the One-Day Cup after two matches. Tahir has a test bowling average of 46.39 and 19.81 in one dayers. He is considered to be one of the best spinners that South Africa has produced after Nicky Boje. Notts director Mick Newell said in a conversation with BBC news ” Imran has played lots of cricket in England. We know how effective international-class spinners can be during the business end of a county season.” Notts will be his fifth English county after brief stints with Hampshire, Warwickshire, Middlesex and Yorkshire. It will be interesting to see how Tahir performs for  Nottinghamshire who has an impressive first-class record with a decent average and imposing strike rate.
