Mumbai Indians (MI) posted a good total of 195 in the match 9 of Vivo IPL 2018 against the Delhi Daredevils (DD). Suryakumar Yadav was promoted to open the batting with Evin Lewis. They both added a 100 run stand to the opening wicket (first for MI). Ishan Kishan who came one down kept the runs flowing, it was first time for MI that their top three players scored 40+. However, Delhi bowled exceptionally well in the last five overs conceding only 36 runs and picking 5 wickets. Mumbai who were cruising to 200+ total at one point ended up scoring 195.

It was Jason Roy who guided DD to their first win in IPL 2018. Mumbai managed to get three wickets but did not pick it up on regular intervals which allowed partnership to build. MI gave their everything on the field as they dismissed Rishabh Pant and Glenn Maxwell off some stunning catches. Mumbai have made it a habit of taking the match to the last over. There seemed a possibility of a super over but Roy smashed a four off the last ball to win it for DD in Mumbai after six long years.
