Tune in with us for all the live scores and updates as India and England clash on Day 3 in Leeds. England’s hopes now rest on Ollie Pope after their star batter Joe Root was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah on Day 2.

Tuns in with us to get the live score and all the live updates of Day 2 of IND vs ENG 1st Test at Headingley in Leeds. Shubman Gill is leading the national side, with Ben Stokes holding the command of the hosts.

Indian Test team faced a transition phase, as veteran players R Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the format within last 6 months. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) then named young players in the squad.

Following the retirement of Rohit Sharma, a number of players were coming in as contenders to be made the new captain. However, the selectors eventually ended with giving the role to Shubman Gill, along with Rishabh Pant being named his deputy.

Summary of Day 1:
The first day of the match saw the fall of KL Rahul (42 off 78 balls), Sai Sudarshan (0 off 4 balls). Apart from that Yashasvi Jaiswal was also dismissed after he scored a historic century (101 off 159 balls). Captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Rishabh Pant were unbeaten on Day 1 with a century and a half-century respectively. By the time stumps were called on Day 1, India was at a commanding score of 359 runs for 3 wickets.

Summary of Day 2:
Ollie Pope stood tall for England with a brilliant unbeaten century as the hosts ended Day 2 at 209/3 in Leeds, trailing India by 262 runs. Pope will resume alongside Harry Brook on Day 3. Jasprit Bumrah has been the key bowler for India as he claimed all three wickets in the innings so far. Brook survived a nervy moment late in the day after mistiming a shot, but a no-ball saved him as Bumrah had overstepped.

Earlier, India were in a strong position, led by Shubman Gill’s brilliant 147 (227 balls, 19 fours, 1 six). However, his dismissal triggered a collapse. England bounced back strongly post-lunch, with Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue combining to take eight wickets between them. Shoaib Bashir struck early, removing Gill, while Karun Nair fell cheaply caught by Pope off Stokes for a duck.

Summary of Day 3:
England started Day 3 as they trailed India by 262 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took a fifer, along with Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj who took 3 and 2 wickets respectively. By the time England’s innings ended, they were still trailing by 6 runs. The visitors then began their second innings, and stumps were called on Day 3 as KL Rahul and Sai Sudarshan were at strike while the team lead by 96 runs.
