Shubman Gill will miss Day 4 of India’s second Test against England due to a minor injury sustained by the young opener prior to the start of play on Monday, according to the BCCI. Gill injured his finger during fielding on Day 2 and refused to enter the field on what may be the last day of the Visakhapatnam Test.

“Shubman Gill hurt his right index finger while fielding on Day 2. He won’t be taking the field today,” the BCCI said in a post via X.

While the nature of the injury is unknown, it is unlikely to be significant because Gill batted without any problems on Day 3 and went on to record his third Test century.
