Coach reveals secret behind Pant's success in England

Rishabh Pant, who gave out his wicket because of bad shot selection worked a lot on his defensive skills. The outcome of all his training was clearly visible in the first match of the ongoing series against England, as he scored spectacular century. The information of Pant doing a lot of training on his defensive skills was revealed by his childhood coach Devender Sharma.

“After he failed in Australia, he made a lot of changes to his defensive techniques and curbed his stroke play, which you also saw in the match. Pant is a match-winner,” Sharma told PTI Videos in an exclusive interview.

“Before he went to England, we discussed his defense because his Australia tour didn’t go well. We decided he would play fewer strokes and focus more on batting there. England’s conditions are different; there’s more movement,” he added.

Rishabh Pant played an innings of 134 runs in India’s first innings, which was also his seventh Test century. With that knock, he also became the Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score most hundreds in the longest format of the game. Left-handed Rishabh had also scored a ton the last time he toured England.

“He (Rishabh Pant) has a lot of time when he bats, which is a factor that makes him successful in England. Playing in the second line gives him a significant advantage,” Devender Sharma asserted.

As of now, one innings is complete for both India and England, and the visitors have begun their second innings. Rishabh Pant played a centurial knock in the first innings and people expect him to have another massive knock.
