India A vs Sri Lanka tour match: Kumar Sangakkara, Upul Tharanga lead Lanka’s chase of 382

Sri Lanka overcame a stuttering start to steady the ship in the mammoth chase of 382 in the only tour match against India A at Mumbai on Thursday. Lanka are 95 for two after 18 overs. Sangakkara is batting on 28 and Tharanga is batting on 43.

Dhawal Kulkarni struck in the first over removing the explosive Kusal Perera caught behind. Then opener looked in good touch as he had hit a few crisp shots towards covers one of which pierced the infield. But he was caught behind on the last ball.

However, it was Upul Tharanga who was yet to show his fluency. In the third over of the match, he hit four boundaries in a row off Dhawal Kulkarni’s bowling. However, Sri lanka soon lost their second wicket which brought Kumar Sangakkara to the crease. The two have so far steadied the ship for Lanka scoring at a brisk pace.

Spinners were introduced in the ninth over with karn Sharma coming in a picking a wicket first ball. But after a couple of overs, Sangakkara scored at ease against karn and Parvez Rasool. Manish Pandey was brought in to bowl the 17th over. But he was erratic conceding three wides.
