India’s success in ICC Champions Trophy 2013 inspires fan to write song
Ranchi: Jun 19, 2013
Impressive performances by the Indian team in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2013 has re-energised the fans who were disillusioned by the India Premier League 2013 spot-fixing controversy, with a 22-year-old cricket buff releasing a song on YouTube in praise of the squad.
Enthused by captain MS Dhoni leading the team to the semi-finals, singer Rohan Deo Pathak has composed and sang the track.
“Real fans have always loved cricket and cheered Indian team,” said Ranchi-based Pathak, who had earlier dedicated a song to Dhoni soon after India won the ODI against England in January in Ranchi.
Covering Indian players in extraordinary actions with special shots of the 2011 ICC World Cup winning feat, the budding singer begins the footage with the national flag fluttering and singing the national song before switching over to “Mahi ki team hai ye Bharat ki shaan hei ye. Jeet ka caravan ab thamega nahin…” (Mahi’s team is India’s pride. The winning juggernaut will not stop now).
“I took up singing seriously after APJ Abdul Kalam praised my song on June 28, 2002 during his visit to our school when I was reading in Class VII in DAV Hehal,” Rohan, who has won several awards locally for his vocal excellence, said.
