India take 229-run lead against West Indies at lunch on Day 3, 2nd Test at Kingston

India go to lunch at 425 for 6 on Day 3 of the second Test at Kingston. India now lead West Indies by 227 runs and will be keen on adding a lot more in the second session. India will be overall happy with the effort in this session. Ajinkya Rahane has gone past his fifty and is looking in fine nick, but Wriddhiman Saha was trapped leg before just moments before the lunch break. India began the day at 358 for 5. It was the KL Rahul show on Day 2 as his 158 had initially put India in firm control of this match.  He put on 121 for the second wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara to give India a perfect platform. Pujara unfortunately ran himself out for 46, but Rahul went from strength to strength and went on to make his highest Test score. West Indies in their first innings managed to make only 196. Jermaine Blackwood was their top-scorer with run-a-ball 62. He and Marlon Samuels put on 81 for the fourth wicket after West Indies were reduced to 7 for 3 in the early stages. West Indies kept losing wickets at regular intervals after Blackwood’s dismissal, but the last wicket partnership between Shannon Gabriel and Miguel Cummins ensured that West Indies got close to 200. On Day 1, it was West Indies, who had won the toss and elected to bat first. Both sides made one change to their side. Rahul came in place of the injured Murali Vijay for India, For West Indies it was Cummins, who got his maiden Test cap, replacing all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite for this match.
