India now have won seven consecutive T20Is against Australia, and it was Virat Kohli yet again in the thick of things. After the rain interruption revised the target to 48 off 36, Kohli rose to the challenge (well, nothing new) and scored 22 off 14 to take India home.

After winning the toss and bowling first that sort of effort was required and our bowlers did well. The game can get tricky with a small chase like that, said Kohli after the match.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah continued their stellar efforts in the pace department. The duo took 3 wickets between them. However, the spinners performed neck-and-neck with the pace pair, as Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal gave away a mere 39 runs combined. Bhuvi getting us the early breakthrough, Bumrah in the end overs and spinners in the middle overs. It’s been a combined effort from the players. Giving the younger bowlers the confidence they need. Wrist spinners can turn the game on its head. We are very happy with the bowlers right now. You need to execute your yorkers and you have to have a strong head to take your chances against the batsmen. You need to have skill and a strong head in T20I cricket.

Shikhar Dhawan was not part of the ODI series due to personal commitments. Kohli hailed his efforts, saying that India need the left-hander s services. He [Dhawan] was playing really well in Sri Lanka. He is an impact player and we need him to do well, concluded the Indian captain.

Kuldeep was awarded Man of the Match for his figures of 2 for 16. In fact, this was his first award, and the young lad was happy that it came against a top team like Australia. I’m very happy. This is my first Man of the Match, said Kuldeep.

The Chinaman bowler knocked over Aaron Finch with an absolute peach of a delivery. He explained how he set up the Australia. First couple of balls I saw what he [Finch] was trying to do and set him up with an overpitched ball. I always think about wickets and that’s what really matters to me and the team. I’m getting more confident day by day and game by game. Performing well against a top side like Australia, I’m very happy for myself.
