Nathan Lyon was named Man of the Match on Day Five of the first Test between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval. Lyon, who took 12 wickets in the match, turned the game on its head when he ran through the Indian line-up in the final session of the match.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Lyon said, “I’d like to thank the crowd. it was a tough all day, but they stayed behind us.” Speaking about umpire Marais Erasmus, who had an iffy Test, he said, “We are going well. He is a good umpire and there were some tough decisions.” Speaking about the victory, Lyon said, “We knew if we stayed patient, we’d turn it all around. They [Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay] are unbelievable and superstars. Credit to them.”

Nathan Lyon took seven wickets in the second innings and five wickets in the first innings. Lyon got rid of Cheteshwar Pujara, Murali Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wridhhiman Saha, Virat Kohli, and Ishant Sharma in the second innings. Rohit Sharma was out for six. Rohit was looking scratchy throughout his innings and finally ended up giving David Warner a catch at short leg off Nathan Lyon. Earlier, Kohli reached his highest Test score during the course of his innings.
