A brief passage of play after a delayed start to day three of the first Test between India and Australia at Adelaide Oval, during which Jasprit Bumrah removed Mitchell Starc in the 3.4 overs possible, was followed by the return of rain.

Play had started 45 minutes late owing to early morning rain.

Australia were 204/8 when rain return returned on Saturday morning, with Travis Head batting on 66. Starc moved from 8 to 15 before he became Bumrah’s third wicket, and immediately the on-field umpires signalled for the teams to leave as the rain increased.
