Australia reached 69 for one at the end of 13 overs against India in the third One-Day International (ODI) at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali on Saturday.

Phil Hughes was dismissed trying to poke at a delivery outside off and edging the ball to Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Umpire Shamshuddin continued to be in the spotlight after making two incorrect decisions . First, it was a close leg-before appeal for Phil Hughes that was declined and later an edge off Aaron Finch’s bat which carried to Virat Kohli at point.

The second decision irked Kohli as he mouthed explicit towards the batsman.

However, Indian bowlers pulled things back by keeping a check on the scoring rate after the 10th over.

Needing 304 to win, Australia’s chase got off to a good start as Aaron Finch smashed a boundary to end the first over.

Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took advantage of the swinging conditions before a poor delivery outside off got the treatment it deserved.

Vinay Kumar’s over started off poorly as he targeted Phil Hughes’ legs with a leg slip stationed. However, he ended up giving six runs in wide before bowling his first legitimate ball.

Although both the bowlers strayed in their line, both the openers looked out of sorts when they got it right.

The openers — Aaron Finch and  Hughes — continued to muster runs as Ishant Sharma’s woes continued. He has failed to hit rhythm in the series so far.
