KL Rahul has been dismissed on Day Five of the fourth Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Rahul and Murali Vijay had helped India get off to good start to their run-chase of 349 after Australia had declared overnight at 251 for six. Rahul was dismissed by the spinner Nathan Lyon, who is getting good help from the responsive surface at the SCG.

Rahul had moved to a solid start and had essayed a few good shots during his innings of 16. Rahul tried to charge down the track to Lyon and gloved the ball to leg-slip. He was trying to defend and it took the glove and lobbed to leg-slip. The Indians have been trying to dominate the spinner and they have to be careful given the memories of Adelaide. India are 48 for one with Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma in the middle.

Earlier on Day One, Australia won the toss and chose to bat first on a good looking wicket. The only change in their team was Mitchell Starc replacing Mitchell Johnson. India made four changes to their team. MS Dhoni’s retirement allowed Wriddhiman Saha to don the gloves. Suresh Raina, Rohit and Bhuvneshwar Kumar came in place of Cheteshwar Pujara, Shikhar Dhawan and Ishant Sharma. Rahul managed to hold on to his spot. Australia scored 572 for two declared and in reply Virat Kohli and KL Rahul hit centuries. India scored 475. In reply, Australia declared on 251 for six, leaving India with a target of 349 on the last day.
