Nathan Lyon, Australia‘s number one spinner is admittedly under pressure to hold on to his test spot with Stephen’O’Keefe  on his back. O’Keefe  had broken into the side on Australia’s tour of the United Arab Emirates(UAE) and the duo bowled in tandem in the first test, although both were largely ineffective, O’keef out-bowled Lyon marginally.

With  O’Keefe coming into the reckoning and faring marginally better than lyon in the UAE, despite the advantage of an extra test Lyon fell one short of O’Keefe’s meagre tally of of four wickets. Lyon feels that his position is under threat, especially considering that his fellow New South Welshman bowled New South Wales to victory against South Australia in lyon’s absence. However the spinner believes he still has plenty to offer according to the Sydney morning Herald.

Lyon was quoted saying ” You’re always under pressure, You’re playing international cricket at the highest level, so It’s about how you handle that and how you bounce back. I’m confident in my skill to get the job done no matter what. It’s unfortunate it didn’t happen in Abu Dhabi and Dubai but you have to pay credit to [Pakistan’s] spin bowling. So I’m looking forward to coming out here in Australia and putting in a good performance for NSW leading into the Test series. I’m definitely working on a few different things in the nets here, especially reflecting on the Pakistan series, So I’m always learning and I’m looking forward to making a few changes here and there.”
