India will face off with Australia in the second of the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series at Gabba. The odds will be scaled in favour of the hosts after they comfortably staged a record chase of 310 against India to take the lead in the first game at WACA, Perth. India displayed great resolve, patience and temperament with the bat but the bowling was weak in response. In fact that was even the case for Australia. Their bowlers were not up to the mark either. There were three centurions in the game. Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 171 for India in the first innings to anchor and headline their effort to take the score to 309 in the fifty over. It took two hundreds from the Australian camp to upstage his effort. In the bowling department, the Aussie debutants had a forgettable outing. Both Scott Boland and Joel Paris got hit around for quite a few runs. In stark contrast, Indian debutant Barinder Sran impressed all especially with his tight opening spell where he got rid of both David Warner and Aaron Finch to quell a possibility of an early onslaught from the aggressive pair. His efforts failed to inspire anything special from his teammates however resulting in India’s defeat.
