India opener Murali Vijay was ruled out of the second Test against Australia. the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed in a statement that the cricketer picked up an injury in his left shoulder during the first Test at Pune and will be kept under observation of the BCCI medical team for some time now. India replaced Vijay with Abhinav Mukund at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, who eventually got out for a 8-ball duck off a Mitchell Starc delivery, giving an edge to Australia, who are already ahead in the series by 1-0 winning the opener at Pune. The BCCI statement also mentioned that Vijay suffered the injury while fielding in the first Test. Vijay dived with a stretched arm and picked up the injury. However, skipper Virat Kohli in the pre-match press conference had clarified that the regular members of the team are fit to play; keeping the visitors in confusion about India s playing eleven for the crucial Bengaluru fixture. With Vijay out of the Test, Mukund made a comeback into India s Test side after six years, since his appearance against England in the second Test of Pataudi Trophy at Trent Bridge. Apart from Vijay, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has also been ruled out due to a shoulder injury and remained unavailable for selection for the Test. Pandya suffered a blow to his shoulder during the training session.
