Moises Henriques has been fighting for a place in the national side for many years. His international appearances have been far and few for him really showcase his talent. Ahead of the India-Australia 3-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series, Henriques has pinned his hopes of a good show to answer his critics back.

Speaking to cricket.com.au, Henriques said, “I definitely think I’m good enough to play at this level. A lot of the opportunities I’ve had with Australia in the past have been in different roles to what I play now for my domestic team. And also they were when I was a lot younger than in the past two years as well.”

Having made a 68 and 81* on his debut Test, Henriques has just one half-century across formats for Australia since then. He adds, “I feel like my game has come a long way in the past two or three years and I probably haven’t got as many opportunities to play for Australia in that time. But I’m looking forward to this opportunity coming up now.”

Henriques has had a successful time playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). We’re fresh and we’re ready to go. Hopefully we can bring a bit of excitement … and hopefully rev the some of the guys up here. I can’t quite put my finger on where they faulted in the ODIs,” Henriques states.

All those guys that have IPL experience will be pretty keen (to do well). With Steven Smith and David Warner leading the charge in IPL experience, hopefully they can lead the way over the next three games,” he concluded.
