India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, on Friday, completed his 10th half-century in Test cricket, during the one-off match against Bangladesh at Hyderabad. Rahane achieved the feat with a boundary off a full toss from Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, as India continued to plunder runs against the visitors, who have been bowling haywire. Rahane faced 73 balls and scored 51 with the help of 8 boundaries to get to his fifty. Rahane had scored a fabulous 188 against New Zealand at Indore last year, but he did not make a mark in the Test series against England, managing only 63 runs in 3 Tests. Rahane had replaced Karun Nair for this Test, and the pressure was certainly on the senior cricketer since the batsman whom he had replaced had scored a triple-hundred in his previous match. Nair had come into the Indian Test side after Rahane suffered an injury to his finger and sat out from the fourth Test. Earlier on Day One, India were 356 for 3 at stumps, with the help of Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay’s centuries. Vijay faced 160 balls and scored a resolute 108 while Kohli raced to 111 not out off 141 balls with 12 boundaries. After 98 overs, India were 398 for 3 with Rahane batting on 53 and Kohli reaching 145 not out.
