On Day Four of the first session, India lost early wickets to England in form of their vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane and skipper, Virat Kohli. The duo came out to bat at 319 for 4 this morning after nightwatchman, Amit Mishra, could not do anything on Day Three. Rahane looked his usual best before departing against the run of play. Rahane and Kohli was expected to add runs together as the pair enjoys good amount of success together but it was not the case to be with Rahane being clean bowled by Zafar Ansari. Rahane did not judge the length of the ball off Ansari and tried flicking it as it clipped his pads to dismantle the bails. India are in a cautious position as a flurry of wickets have put them on the back foot after a brilliant batting display by Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay on Day Three. After losing Gautam Gambhir early in the previous day, the duo added 209 runs and added centuries to their names. India lost a few wickets in the end and now with Rahane and Kohli sitting in the dugout, Ravichandran Ashwin will have to hold forte with the tail.
