Wriddhiman Saha gave Moeen Ali his first wicket after lunch AFP

India‘s wicketkeeper-batsman, Wriddhiman Saha, went for 35 off 82 balls soon after lunch break to give England their seventh wicket on Day Four of first Test. Starting the day at 319 for 4, India’s skipper, Virat Kohli, and deputy, Ajinkya Rahane, fell early to give a huge setback to the hosts after centuries after Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay on Day Three. Nonetheless, Saha came in after Kohli and though he started off slowly, he played some cracking shots down the ground and got out when he was getting a move on. Saha had stitched a 50-run stand with Ravichandran Ashwin before falling after getting a look in. Live Cricket Scorecard: India vs England 1st Test at Rajkot

Saha was beaming in confidence after a slow start at the crease. He came in at No. 8 after Amit Mishra was sent in as a nightwatchman on Day Three. He got a look in, showed awareness against the pacers and slowly started to attack the tweakers coming down the track. He blasted a maximum off Adil Rashid but fell trying to cut off Moeen, thereby giving a simple catch to wicketkeeper, Jonny Bairstow. Live Cricket Updates, India vs England, 1st Test, Rajkot

India are still over 100 runs behind from England’s first innings score of 537 and will depend on the pair of Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to bail them out and get close to visitors’ score. Jadeja, being the other local lad along with Pujara, will hope to replicate the success enjoyed by the latter on Day Three and hang around with Ashwin.
