Jason Roy and Alex Hales had started off very well in the only T20 International between India and England at Edgbaston. But then Roy was dismissed as he tried to hit Mohammed Shami over cover and gave an easy catch to Ajinkya Rahane. Roy scored eight runs and England are 26 for one in 2.5 overs.

Ravichandran Ashwin started off with the proceedings and he was hit for 17 runs. Roy opened his account with a reverse sweep for a four and then got three. Hales then got a boundary and then swept the last ball for a six. Mohit Sharma started at the other end, and off the last ball of that over, he was hit for a six down the ground by Hales. Mohammed Shami started off the third over as Dhoni decided that he has to take Ashwin off the attack.

Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bat first. Jason Roy made his debut for England. For India, Ambati Rayudu and Karn Sharma made their T20 International debuts. The captains, MS Dhoni and Eoin Morgan are playing their respective 50th T20 Internationals. Morgan has played a few for Ireland though. Dhoni has played 49 of those as captain.
